Ceramic knives vs Steel
Ceramic knives do not replace steel knives entirely. Ceramic knives can get notched when cutting bones and the tip of the knife can break if dropped on a hard surface like ceramic floor tiles, but ceramic knives are very flexible, excellent, specialized tools, for light cutting (vegetables and fish , boneless meat) . One or two could be a good addition to a kitchen but at least one big steel knife in your kitchen will still be required. If you are feeling insecure about buying a ceramic knife you could start by buying a small paring knife or a fish fillet knife and if you like it you could buy a larger ceramic knife later on.
