How to treat Bamboo Cutting boards:
Bamboo cutting boards are highly prized for their beauty and durability. Bamboo needs the same food-grade mineral oil treatment as every other wooden cutting board! The oil keeps the wood from drying out and if wood dries out it will start to splinter, warp or crack. Be sure to oil it plenty when you first get it, and then once a week for about a month and after that about once a month.(Not every dealer will tell you this !!) A tip: Heat the mineral oil on low heat, then apply oil to the surface using a soft cloth ( rub it in thoroughly). Let the oil soak in for 20 minutes before wiping away excess with a dry cloth.
Do not use olive oil or any other vegetable oil!

Some dealers recommend the use of olive oil or any vegetable oil in general. Do not use vegetable oils such as olive and safflower to treat your bamboo cutting board.
